B.C. Pioneers

B.C. Pioneers before 1900

In the 1990s, the BC Genealogical Society began to collect information about early pioneers in British Columbia. Members were encouraged to submit information about their pioneer ancestors - initially the registry included pioneers who had arrived in BC prior to 1900.

The BC Pioneer Registry now contains the names of almost 3800 individuals and their families who settled in BC and contributed to the building of our province. If you see a name that interests you, please contact our BC Research team to request further information.

B.C. Pioneers before 1925

The Pioneer Registry – the Next Wave will include those pioneers who arrived between 1900 and 1925. It is still not too late if you have ancestors who arrived before 1900—we are now inviting members to submit this information for any family that arrived in British Columbia prior to 1925. The button below will take you to an application form that can be completed digitally or downloaded and mailed to the Society.
