Our next BCGS members’ meeting will be via Zoom.us on
10 January 2024 at 7:30PM.
Join the meeting between 7 & 7:30 when Members chat and share.
Guest Speaker: Karen Inkster Vance
”Delving Deep: The Power of Place”
A one-place study sheds light on our ancestors’ lived experiences and can highlight patterns, reveal relationships, and topple brick walls. Join Karen Inkster Vance as she discusses her decades-long journey researching and writing about her great-grandfather’s village in the Shetland Islands, the subject of her recently published book, Voices from the Past: Stories of North Roe (2023). Karen will discuss the benefits and challenges of conducting a one-place study, share poignant stories that she uncovered along the way, and offer tips for delving into one-place research. Karen can also answer questions about her writing and self-publishing journey.
An invitation from the BCGS to the meeting, using Zoom, will be sent to members.
