The 1862 Murder of James Webster in Victoria, BC

When I discovered that my fourth great-uncle was murdered on the streets of Victoria in 1862, my curiosity was piqued and I had to find out more. Newspapers of the day helped me to unfold the story of his tragic death: a case of mistaken identity. The circumstances culminating in his murder took me on a romp from California up to the Cariboo gold fields. The characters and events encountered paint a picture of life in the Wild West!
